Qualification Standards
Education & Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel HR department or a related field required
- Completion or enrollment in an Human Resource designation program preferred
- High School diploma required
- College course work in related field preferred
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey & understand information and ideas in English
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
- Mathematical Reasoning - Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
- Multi-lingual skills helpful
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, and initiatives, to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, COBRA, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
- Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working
- Works with Food and Beverage Department to maintain staff common area
- Comply at all times with Northview standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
- Prepare and maintain Human Resources budget
- Maintain thorough and current knowledge of all Human Resources/employment regulations and laws including FLSA and ensure that the property is in compliance with same
- Participate in EEO, Unemployment, Wage & Hour, Worker's Compensation, OSHA, ADAA, DHHS hearings
- Implement policies and programs to guarantee compliance
- Communicate all new policies, information, and directives to all employees
- Instruct all staff in interpretation of H. R. policies & procedures
- Ensure all staff's compliance with all Human Resources policies and procedures
- Coordinate and monitor recruitment, screening, and reference checking of all exempt and non-exempt personnel
- Recruit, interview, and recommend all exempt personnel
- Set up, approve, and maintain all wage and salary programs, including performance evaluations
- Recommend and/or approve all employee transitions, e.g. new hire, promotion, etc.
- Maintain open door policy
- Monitor and analyze turnover statistics and conduct exit interviewsAnticipate and handle problems in the workplace, including preventing, identifying, evaluating, and acting quickly to help resolve in a favorable manner
- Condense and expedite paperwork, develop internal communications, improve record keeping
- Attend and participate in meetings
- Manage all personnel files
- Participate in annual wage and benefit survey
- Manage resume and application files
- Develop and monitor recruitment resources
- Other duties as required
