Director of Nursing


The Director of Nursing (DON) is one of our most important clinical leaders. She/he oversees the strategic direction of nursing clinical teams and ensures all resident care is provided according to the standards of nursing practice. This key leader empowers our staff by providing them with a motivating and supportive work environment and ensures our nurses serve as a resource for the families of our residents who have entrusted us with their care This key leader is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to our residents in a loving and safe environment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure nursing staff provide care and services in accordance with the Indiana Nurse Practice Act.
  • Ensure resident annual assessments and plans associated with annual assessments are completed and in compliance with HFS supportive living regulations.
  • Lead, mentor and engage teams to maximize their contributions including, recruiting, and assessing, training, coaching, and managing performance.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance management; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Reviews nurses’ notes to assure that they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care provided and of the resident’s response to the care.
  • Makes rounds to assure that nursing service personnel are performing appropriate nursing care to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Monitor nursing department's day-to-day needs and scheduling and assigning tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid RN license.
  • RN required; BSN preferred.
  • Must have at least 1 year experience as a DON in a Skilled Nursing Facility
  • Have experience and knowledge of Assisted Living/Supportive Living Regulations and compliance needs.
  • Strong Leadership Skills
