Ozark Orthopaedics is looking to hire for the Director of Nursing position. We are offering a sign-on bonus.

The Director of Nursing is responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing services for all nursing staff and clinical nursing operations. The Director has administrative responsibility for risk management, utilization management, and overall clinical staff performance.

Supervises: LPNs, medical assistants, and scrub techs

Overtime Status: Exempt

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in management level planning, budgeting, policy making, and decision making related to clinical operations involving nursing staff.
  • Develops, maintains, implements and communicates nursing policies and procedures to staff that conform to current standards of nursing practice and organizational philosophy.
  • Designs and develops curricula and clinical educational programs for new, existing and upgraded clinical software, including all education materials, training schedules, exercises, and skills evaluations.
  • Ensures that nursing aspects related to risk management, reimbursement, financial management, and other administrative functions are incorporated into operational systems.
  • Develops, implements and communicates policies and procedures in order to maintain organizational compliance with the HIPAA Act of 1996, and the OSHA Act of 1970.
  • Establishes and maintains an electronic health information management and clinical quality outcomes program, as well as related quality assurance and compliance, via policies, procedures, and workflows that are in compliance with the complex legal, regulatory, contractual, and outcome reporting requirements of the entity.
  • Monitors outcomes, budget results, patient satisfaction surveys, and other indicators of nursing performance.
  • Develops a human resources plan for nursing including staffing and types of clinical support staff needed. Works with human resources specialist to recruit, select, orient, and train new staff.
  • Monitors daily operating activity of department and makes necessary adjustments in work assignments and staffing levels.
  • Ensures the performance and productivity of all nursing staff are evaluated annually and periodically throughout the year. Advises on appropriate corrective actions and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintains high quality of care by nursing staff through continuous improvement of standards and protocols.
  • Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of nursing services and resolve identified problems.
  • Ensures all staff is trained in quality assurance/control requirements and meet these standards.
  • Stays current with state, federal, and payer regulations/requirements and updates professional standards for nursing for entity as necessary.
  • Provides professional and technical support to staff and troubleshoots the delivery of patient care.
  • Responds to requests from external agencies, concerned patients and families regarding patient care issues.
  • Monitors current inventory level of medical supplies and contacts appropriate vendors to secure bids and place orders. Confirms delivery, quality, and quantity of orders.
  • Develops, updates and maintains the physician on-call schedule for all facilities where the groups’ physicians take call.
  • Attends administrative meetings and participates in committees as requested. Conducts special projects and studies as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: RN or LPN required

Experience: Minimum 5 years of nursing experience with progressively increasing management/operations experience.

Other Requirements:

  • State of Arkansas RN or LPN license.
  • Current CPR certification.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations and requirements related to nursing including patient safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, risk management, utilization management, and outcomes management standards.

Skills:

  • Skill in time management and prioritizing work.
  • Skill in the human resource management of staff from recruitment through evaluation and termination.
  • Skill in utilizing computerized systems to gather data, analyze results, and make recommendations.
  • Skill in developing/monitoring budgets and maintaining cost-effective nursing practices.

Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze data, problem solve, and make decisions related to nursing issues.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels and departments about nursing topics.
  • Ability to make presentations before management, public groups, and staff.
  • Ability to collaborate with managers to improve clinical operations.
  • Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate practice management software.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment with emphasis on computer hardware and software. Occasional use of nursing equipment, particularly for training purposes.

Work Environment: Primarily medical offices.

Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Director of Nursing that is mostly a sedentary job. Walking to consult with co-workers and staff. Some standing, reaching, and bending. Rare need to lift/carry/move items weighing up to 25 lbs. High level of responsibility may create stress related to quality care and patient issues.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
