Position Summary
The School of Music at UNC Greensboro welcomes applications for Director of Orchestras at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin August 1, 2023. We seek a dynamic and versatile artist-scholar actively engaged in advancing inclusion, equity, diversity, and access in the arts. Conducting the UNCG University Symphony Orchestra; conducting the UNCG Opera Orchestra; teaching conducting at the undergraduate and graduate level; collaborating within a comprehensive ensemble program that places emphasis on flexibility and adaptability; actively recruiting music students from the state of North Carolina and beyond. Additional areas of teaching and service may be determined depending on School needs, candidates’ individual interests, qualifications, and expertise. The successful candidate will be committed to contributing to the musical and intellectual life of the School of Music as well as fostering engagement with orchestral music throughout the university and in the community.

Minimum Qualifications
Master of Music degree

Preferred Qualifications
DMA in Conducting or equivalent professional experience; demonstrated success teaching at the university level; demonstrated success at teaching undergraduate and graduate conducting; evidence of artistic excellence; demonstrated commitment to creative activity and professional service; demonstrated commitment to advancing issues of equity, diversity, inclusion, and access in the arts.
