• Provide strategic vision, leadership and direction to the University Police Department while creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
• Develop, recommend and oversee implementation and administration of operational plans, policies and procedures while adhering to State, Local and University laws pertaining to law enforcement.
• Provide oversight for the day to day operation of the public safety department.
• Ensure public safety department practices pertaining to recruitment and staffing, training and supervision are in compliance with university goals and objectives.
• Act as liaison with outside law enforcement and regulatory agencies and other departmental units.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Must provide evidence of eligibility to meet Maryland Certification as a Police Officer.
• Progressive leadership experience in a criminal justice organization.
• Strong leadership and motivational capabilities.
• Familiarity with budgets is essential.
• Computer literacy.

• Experience in a college or university setting

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
• Ability to work and lead in a diverse environment.
• Must be able to establish performance goals and assist staff members in developing a plan to meet those goals.
• Extensive knowledge of state and federal statutes.

• Maryland Police Training Commission Certification required or must provide evidence of eligibility to meet Maryland Certification as a Police Officer.
