Position: Director of Security

Welcome to one of the most challenging and rewarding positions in the hotel industry. The 208 room full service Renaissance by Marriott hotel searching for a dynamic Director of Security. The Director of Security assumes a working management position and is responsible for service to hotel guests, the security and safety of all hotel guests and associates, and property loss prevention. The Director of Security will be continually focusing on guest satisfaction and maintaining the integrity of the hotel.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in security in a full service hotel property and a proven track record of directing motivating a security personnel while focusing on loss prevention.

Previous Marriott experience and Mandarin language skills are helpful.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Plans, organizes and coordinates all phases of security operations.

· Performs human resource functions for security staff, including recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating performance.

· Assists the hotel management team in implementing emergency procedures.

· Provides basic customer service and courtesies to enhance the guests’ stay.

· Be positioned outside the Renaissance Hotel at Tangram entrance/exit; provide security to Renaissance Hotel guests, visitors, staff members, and guests of Prime Met

· Greet all guests, restaurant patrons, spa patron and visitors upon arrival

· Assist guests with luggage to/from their rooms promptly when checking in and upon checking out.

· Practice proactive hospitality by anticipating their needs and being flexible in responding to them.

· Be knowledgeable about the hotel, the downtown Flushing neighborhood/LGA area

· Report defects in the hotel including shortages of equipment & supplies.

· Assists with maintaining cleanliness standards.

· Oversee, manage, schedule and assist contracted security and valet parking

· Regularly patrol building, grounds and parking area of the Hotel.

· Assists with guest problems and complaints.

· Serve as primary liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement.

· Examines doors, windows, and corridors to determine that they are secure.

· Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or panhandling.

· Assists staff with managing intoxicated guests.

· Maintain incident/accident reports as needed. Reports all incidents in writing to the General Manager.

· Conducts bag checks at hotel entrance/exits

· Conducts lock audits of hotel lock system

· Reviews security surveillance video when necessary

· Performs other duties as developed, directed or assigned.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand outside, 8+ hours, in all weather conditions

· Able to lift 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 250 lbs.

· Ability to kneel and/or bend at the waist

Administrative Responsibilities:

· Must possess a valid US driver’s license

· FLSD (Fire, Life Safety Director) Certified in NYC

· CPR/First Aid / AED certified.

· Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Must possess advanced computer skills

· Multi-Lingual is a plus

· Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
