POSITION AVAILABLE: Driver

SHIFT: Full Time

HOURS: Primarily Day Shift, but must be flexible

OVERVIEW:

This position will primarily work a day shift but must be flexible. This position will be required to make store deliveries.

In the event all driver responsibilities are completed, this person will assume the warehouse worker responsibilities.

DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate a “Hostler” daily to move trailers within the yard.

Occasionally deliver general merchandise products to retail units on local routes by operating a tractor-trailer combination.

Perform pre-trip inspection on the tractor and trailer which includes checking the tires, the lights making a visual inspection of the tractor-trailer for scratches, and opening the hood to check the oil, fluids, and belts.

Must be able to hook and unhook sets of doubles without additional help.

With assistance of store personnel, lift the dock plate into place to unload the truck. On occasion may have to restack a pallet load that has fallen over during transport and may have to un-stack top cases to allow the pallet to exit the truck.

Follow company procedures. Ensure a safe work environment. Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity. Completes federally regulated documents associated with operating a tractor-trailer.

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must possess a current CDL and other appropriate licenses/certifications as defined by the Department of Transportation rules and regulations, as well as meeting all of the other criteria defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations. Must have a minimum of 2 years of over the road driving.

Must be able to work outdoors and perform all duties in all weather conditions.

Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance are required. Ability to stand, walk and move on concrete floors while unloading products at each stop (up to 3 hours). Ability to lift up to 90 pounds for reloading pallets, connecting the dock plate, removing empty pallets and pushing pallets with a manual jack. Ability to push and pull a full pallet up to 3, 000 pounds up to 150 - 200 feet. Ability to pull tractor hoods open to check engine. Ability to climb into the tractor with the aid of steps at heights of 21, 39 and 55 inches.

Ability to endure such physical demands as walking across sloped surfaces, neck flexion/extension, cervical rotation, driving a vehicle, wrist rotation and removing pallets from the trailer.

Ability to use such equipment as a hand operated electric pallet jack. Ability to withstand sudden temperature changes, fumes, cramped quarters, and vibration.

WAREHOUSE WORKER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Select the merchandise to be shipped to the stores. Palletize merchandise and shrink wrap. Load merchandise onto truck trailers.

Complete required shipping documents.

Cross train and work in various areas of the facility as needed.

Follow company procedures. Ensure a safe work environment.

Perform all job duties with honesty and integrity.

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Ability to reach and to lift product selected weighing up to approximately 90 lbs. with an average case weight of 28 lbs.

Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance are required. Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for entire work shift. Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Ability to do repetitious arm movements above and below shoulder level required for selection of product. Ability to use and operate related work aides to include motor driven pallet jacks and forklifts.

Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Ability to learn proper selection procedures, shipping and receiving techniques, computerized inventory procedures and safe operating techniques of motor driven pallet jacks and forklifts.

Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment necessary to perform job duties. Potential exposure exists to common household cleaning products being shipped to customer. Occasional exposure to facility pest control fumes. Noise exposure is within normal warehouse expectations.
