Job description
Chevron is accepting online applications for the DT&S - Scientist, Feedstocks, Fuels Base Oils and Additives position through March 16th, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
This Scientist will contribute to the FFAB team based on their understanding of organic chemistry for sample preparation. This could include various wet chemistry approaches including solid phase extraction, soxhlet extraction, derivatization, and acid-base extractions. Although the scientist will be working with a senior scientist, they are expected to operate with autonomy when deciding how to best prepare samples for analysis to meet the business needs. This position will also require the use of various instrument and data processing software packages.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Manage/prioritize workload to meet business needs
- Use appropriate sample preparation technique
- Independently operate and troubleshoot various analytical equipment including NMR, HPLC and GC-MS
- Quantitative analysis of data using both commercially available and custom data processing software
- Report results to various business partners
Required Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Chemistry or equivalent
- Sample preparation
- Data analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Proficient with various analytical equipment software packages
- Experience with Polymers, waste plastics, biofuels

- The anticipated salary range for this position is $ 85,400 – $ 146,600 . The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
