This position is responsible for the development and implementation of a Bureau of Forestry wildlife management program, including formulation of statewide policies and plans, program direction, research & monitoring needs, coordination and evaluation and procedures for wildlife conservation and habitat management, including the State Wildlife Action Plan on State Forest Lands.
This position provides ecological expertise in wildlife to the Department, State Forester’s Office, Bureau Field Offices, and other Divisions/Programs by evaluating landscapes and developing plans for habitats and wildlife on a statewide or regional level; assessing forestry management for impacts to wildlife or the ecosystem and improving those operations; determining funding opportunities for non-commercial habitat projects where necessary; and training staff and the public on the importance of wildlife, best management practices and a functioning ecosystem in forested landscapes.
This position manages the Bureau of Forestry’s deer program, including managing the Deer Management Assistance Program which involves monitoring vegetation in relation to deer
Monitor the status of ecological resources resulting from Marcellus shale development and other management activities on State Forest land.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the assigned headquarters office.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Wildlife Biologist 2 or Natural Resource Program Specialist 1 (commonwealth titles); or
- Three years of experience as a Forester (commonwealth title); or
- Three years of professional experience in management of plant, wildlife, or natural resources and a bachelor's degree in biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, forestry, natural resources management, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
