Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking to hire a full-time Electrical Instrumentation and Control (EI&C) Technician at our Coal Power Plants located in Healy, AK. This is an IBEW position that earns a competitive wage and excellent benefits.
GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. Powering the Interior of Alaska, GVEA contributes to the economic, environmental, and social viability of our communities.

The EI&C Technician is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance at our coal fired power plants. Experience with repair and maintenance of DCS and PLCs, calibration of plant instrumentation, motors, UPS and DC battery systems and controllers and transmitters is beneficial. Team building and collaboration with other employees is essential. Our EI&C Technicians play an important role in GVEA's ability to serve the Healy community and the Interior of Alaska in providing reliable electric service at fair and reasonable prices!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN EI&C TECHNICIAN
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Alaska drivers' license.
- Four years' experience in maintenance and operations of a coal-fired power plant or related industrial facility preferred.
- Minimum of five years industrial, instrumentation/control experience.
- Experience with ABB Digital Control Systems (DCS) preferred.
- Demonstrated equipment calibration experience.
Previous work experience in a technical field would be preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Do you have industrial experience? WORK SCHEDULE
This position typically works 7 days on and 7 days off schedule with a possibility of 4/10's schedule.
