SUMMARY:

The Electrical/Controls Engineer is responsible for coordinating all aspects of electrical design engineering as influencing manufacture, installation and start-up of the Projects. Must have very good knowledge of designing Power and Controls for Material Handling systems. Will work closely with the Project Manager and the Mechanical Project Engineer during design, installation, start-up & commissioning phase of the assigned project.

Reports to: Director of Projects

Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering or demonstrated performance in equivalent position of responsibility
  • 10 – 15 years of experience in designing power and control systems for belt conveyors.
  • Experience in field erection, working with subcontractors, preparing bids and estimates.
  • Design ladder logic and block logic diagrams.
  • PLC & HMI Programming.
  • Design Electrical Power distribution.
  • Design lighting, grounding and raceway systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Electrical controls, develop PLC ladder logic, block logic diagrams, etc.
  • Design electrical Power distribution system consisting of MCCs, motor starters, VFDs, Power Transformers, lighting and power panels.
  • Select Electrical equipment, prepare ABMs and issue P.O.s
  • Review Vendor drawings.
  • Assist Project Manager in the electrical meetings and scope evaluation.
  • Familiar with relevant customer specifications, codes and practices.
  • Monitor and assist Subcontractors, including controls engineering sub.
  • Reports project progress (activity reports, project review meetings and field reports).
  • Perform system checkout/debug/start-up/commissioning.
  • Train customer's management and maintenance personnel and operators in electrical aspects of system operation.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior electrical engineers in the design, field installation, start-up and commissioning.
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of electrical equipment.
  • Develop and prepare specification and scopes for electrical field subcontractors.
  • Float enquiries and evaluate bids for electrical equipment, electrical design and installation subcontracts.
