We are looking for an Electrophysics Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) for BR&T/Electronics Technology to work in the area of research and development of Radio Frequency (RF) solutions. The successful candidate will work on a portfolio of research and technology projects in Huntington Beach, California.

In pursuit of Boeing's research interests, the successful candidate will work with others to develop, document, analyze, and test operational, functional, and environmental requirements of developed research systems. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide high impact, creative solutions to complex technical problems, the ability to work both independently and as part of a large team, and the ability to provide critical support and independent review of the work of teammates.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists in innovating and developing cutting-edge Radio Frequency (RF) engineering solutions
  • Assists in developing and validating requirements for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components
  • Assists in the development and validation of electromagnetic requirements for electrical/electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures
  • Assists in developing architectures to integrate components into higher level systems and platforms Performs trade studies, electromagnetic modeling, simulation (e.g. using HFSS, MicrowaveOffice, CST) and other forms of analysis to predict component, radiating antenna and interconnects performance and to optimize design around established requirements
  • Defines and conducts simple tests to validate performance of designs to requirements
  • Collects and analyzes data on supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements
  • Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by recommending engineering solutions to issues
  • Supports project management by preparing and presenting project status data
  • Writes simple sections of proposals to support development of new business
  • Research and development of RF solutions
  • Full lifecycle development of RF solutions including: requirements, documentation, design, analysis, and test
  • Provide high impact, creative solutions to complex technical problems

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. On-site work will be at a minimum of 2 days per week.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience in Radio Frequency (RF) or communication systems analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active security clearance
  • Experience with developing IRAD (Internal Research and Development) projects
  • Experience with microelectronic packaging and circuit design
  • Experience with microwave test equipment such as network/spectrum analyzers, device characterization and de-embedding techniques
  • Experience with computer aided design tools and systems (e.g. CAD/CAM, Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics)
  • Experience with Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) development

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Level (Level 3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range Associate: $85,850 - $116,150

Summary pay range Mid-Level: $104,550 - $141,450
