Job Summary

RMI International is seeking Emergency Service Personnel (Firefighters and EMT’s) that are responsible, courteous professionals with good customer service skills.

Description:

The starting salary for an EMT is $16.00 hourly.

General Description and Classification Standards:

The purpose of this position is to protect the lives and property of a Steel Manufacturing Facility in Butler, PA area by enforcing all company guidelines and procedures that are set in place. This position provides assistance and support to the Steel Manufacturing Plant with a variety of Emergency and Non-Emergency needs including but not limited to fire prevention, firefighting, Company Safety Education, Hands-on company safety through hands on initiatives, Emergency Medical Services, Confined Space Rescue Teams, and Hazardous Materials Response.

This is an experienced, skilled, or technical level capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the position or specialty with limited review. This level would be considered a promotional level and attainable by any incumbents in a work group who demonstrate the necessary knowledge, ability, and performance.

Works under the supervision of a Fire Lieutenant and follows standard and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs duties in accordance with OSHA Standards, Cleveland Cliff’s and RMI International’s procedures, guidelines, and protocols.

Identifies ancillary health hazards, precautions, informs affected individuals and implements appropriate medical protocols.

Evaluates the scene upon arrival; identifies dangerous building conditions, electrical emergencies, and applies appropriate procedures.

Implements emergency techniques when trapped or disoriented.

Identifies hazardous materials.

Operates emergency vehicles in a safe and efficient manner while responding to radio dispatch and/or telephone requests for assistance.

Assesses and manages incidents; determines number of individuals in need of assistance; sets up medical area and assess nature of injuries and medical problems.

Provides Emergency Medical Care as Emergency Medical Technicians which includes basic trauma life support and pediatric life support; provides rehydration and first aid support during fire ground activities.

Maintains and wears protective clothing and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, as designed.

Assists in fire suppression activities including ventilation, forced entry, salvage and overhaul; performs various firefighting duties; assists in hazardous materials operations, technical rescue operations, confined space rescue operations, and high angle rescue operations.

Attends meetings, seminars, and training as required to remain knowledgeable of departmental operations to promote improved job performance.

Could be the only position in this specialty in a work group or could be part of a general.

Decision Making:

Specialized work team. Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in performing duties including handling of emergency situations, determining and deciding upon procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintains standards, and resolving problems. Responds to orders and requests as directed by supervisory.

Minimum Qualifications:

· U.S. Citizenship or Naturalization

· 18 years of age or older

· Possess valid U.S. Driver’s License

· High School Diploma or GED Certificate

· Firefighting Essentials

· Current EMT Card

· Acceptable 3-year driving record

· Willingness to work Rotating Shifts

· Must be willing to undergo a background check.

· Any tattoos or branding on the head, neck, face, scalp, ears, or hand are prohibited.

· A Driver’s License that is currently suspended, revoked, or expired

· One (1) or more DUI convictions within 3 years.

· Three (3) or more moving violations within 3 years.
