Job description
We are a dental group of 13 offices looking to hire in house Councel to help with Employee and payroll related legal matters. We are looking for someone who has employee defense and plaintaff side experience. The ideal candidate will come on board , learn about out current employment and payroll practices and help to improve them. In addition, this individual would help litigate any employee related legal matters.
Responsibilities:
1) providing ownership with legal advice, guidance and representation required to successfully manage payroll and compliance department
2) Implement systems, contracts, arbitration agreements to help protect ownership and minimize exposure to lawsuits
3) Defend and litigate against employee related lawsuits
4) Preparing and responding to law and motion, attending depositions, propounding and responding to discovery, preparing the matter for trial/arbitration/labor commissioner hearings, attending hearings, attending mediations, and trying cases to completion.
Job Qualifications
- Must be in good standing with the California Bar Association
- Experience: 3-5 years’ experience. 1-2 years in Labor and Employment Law, including class action claims, PAGA actions, Wage and Hour claims, FEHA violations, discrimination, and harassment claims strongly preferred. A thorough knowledge of the California Discovery Act, including all aspects of discovery and law and motion, is required
- Working knowledge of Employment laws and procedures
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Able to function with a high level of patience, tact, and diplomacy in handling negative or challenging situations
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills with attention to detail
- Excellent hands-on computer skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and utilize critical thinking skills
- Familiar with case management software, Microsoft Word Suite, Adobe Pro, and other legal technology
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
