Why does the job exist?

Employment, Recruitment & Placement Specialist -Advanced, New Mexico Works (NMW) Career Development Specialist (CDS) will:

  • Assist Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) customers who have long term barriers prohibiting them from meeting TANF work program requirements;
  • Assist customers improve their housing, mental health, and medical issues,
  • Assist customers applying for Social Security Disability funding;
  • Assist customers to identify their barriers, help alleviate those barriers enabling the customer to be able to find permanent employment enabling them to leave TANF.

How does it get done?

Employment, Recruitment & Placement Specialist -Advanced, New Mexico Works (NMW) Career Development Specialist (CDS) is responsible for:

  • Providing comprehensive case management to participants referred to the NMW Program;
  • Discussing support services available, referrals to support services, referrals to appropriate activities after conducting assessments;
  • Advocating for the participant to be successful in their career development, by monitoring, evaluating and documenting the participant progress in order to assist the participant to obtain the skills and support needed to become self sufficient;
  • Ensuring data entry is completed correctly and timely for all TANF limited participation customers into ASPEN and WorkPath;
  • Making recommendations for modifications to a participant IRP and/or WPA in accordance with HSD policy, assessment results, and customer conversations;
  • Meeting periodically with customers with the goal of getting the customer to a place of self sufficiency;
  • Regularly updating the TANF Manager of events impacting customers receiving support and services;
  • Meeting expected outcomes or let supervisor know of any needed direction, support or resources to ensure attainment of expected outcomes;
  • Participating fully, positively and productively in team meetings to assist in achieving the desired outcomes of the meeting;
  • Informing program staff of import information that will assist in providing quality supports to the department.

Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate has experience:

  • As a current or previous employee of Creative Work Solutions who has direct experience working with the TANF limited population;
  • Embracing diversity and difficult personal circumstances in serving customers and colleagues of varied backgrounds and learning styles;
  • Working with ASPEN and WorkPath;
  • Providing excellent listening, written and strong verbal communication skills with ability to work independently;
  • Independently judging, analyzing and evaluation complex cases;
  • Providing attention to detail, accuracy, strong work ethic and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualification

Associate's degree in Social Services, Education, Government, Human Resources or Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in customer service, administrative support, business administration, human resources, recruitment, placement, processing personnel transactions and/or eligibility determination in a private or public sector and/or social welfare program. Working Conditions

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

Office setting. Sitting for long periods of time viewing computer monitor. Repetitive hand movement. Standing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs. Use of computer, copier and telephone. Travel may be required to include overnight stays.
