Our confidential client near Moorestown, NJ is looking for and Endoscopy Technician, who will be under the direction of a RN and assists with endoscopic procedures and patient care. As a member of the endoscopy team, the Endoscopy Technician has primary functions involving preparation of endoscopic equipment, assisting doctors and nurse during procedures, decontamination and care of endoscopic equipment and supplies. The Endoscopy Technician is also responsible for monitoring supplies for reordering, tracking equipment sent out for repair, and maintaining decontamination room logbooks.
RESPONSBILITIES:
- Reports concerns and errors to Director of Nursing.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Adheres to protective required wear when assisting and performing decontamination and any other time when exposure to bloodborne pathogens or chemical present a hazard.
- Ensures procedure room is set up for the day.
- Sets up the OR endoscopy area and decontamination room for the day
- Decontaminates endoscopy room and decontamination room surfaces between each patient and at the end of the day.
- Ensures correct endoscope number is recorded on label used for recording in DSD logbook.
- Inspects, endoscopes and accessories daily for proper mechanical functioning and before each procedure.
- Leak tests scopes after each procedure, before manual cleaning.
- Insures prompt, thorough room turnover and cleaning and disinfection of scopes and accessories.
- Assists RN with patient preparation for and during endoscopy procedure.
- Directs patients to changing area for the procedure.
- Takes admitting temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure, attacks monitors to patient.
- Assists the physician with biopsy specimens.
- Assists with patient recovery.
- Reports an IV infiltration or empty IV bag to RN.
- Assists to ambulate patients according t policy and procedure in accordance with the physicians orders.
- Walks patient to changing area and out to car when directed by RN.
- Decontaminates stretcher and remakes it for next patient.
- Restocks OR, decontamination room, clean and soiled utility rooms, PACU and stage II, patient changing areas, employee locker room and rest rooms.
- Ensures adequate amount of supplies on hand and anticipates future needs and orders appropriately.
- This job is designated as a Category I job using the OSHA definitions. This means there are tasks that involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for any employee engaged in Category I tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-5yrs of endoscopy experience
- Current BLS certification is a plus!
- Must have the ability to lift 70lbs & able to assist patients on and off stretchers.
SCHEDULE/PAY:
- Monday – Thursday, 7am to 3pm
- $20 to $25/hr depending on previous experience/certifications
