Under general supervision, responsible for moderately complex engineering activities including a variety of tasks in the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of systems, structures, facilities, components and tariffs in generation, transmission, distribution or utilization of electrical energy. Works with regular guidance in own area of knowledge, conferring with supervision or other experts on unusual problems.
Responsibilities:- Familiar with AMI/AMF metering systems and their communication protocols.
- Performs technical reviews of existing and new metering equipment/technology that supports the growth and enhancements of the advanced metering infrastructure.
- Familiar with or experience with meter vendor software/programming. Ability to review and approve new vendor software and identify role out strategy.
- Familiar with the ANSI C12 series of metering standards.
- Knowledge of the different types of meter forms.
- Familiar with NESC and NFPA 70 (NEC) and any local rules for electric metering installations.
- Basic knowledge of DG metering programs and net metering.
- Meter Test Shop experience and ability to support testing environments for meter standards (Beta and First Article Testing).
- Works independently with minimal guidance in a variety of engineering functions either in field locations or in the home office, which may include necessary activities to optimize system/component performance and availability, and analysis for and development of design packages to add/modify systems, components or
- Prepares and analyzes data and performs necessary activities to optimize system/component performance and availability.
- Completes design packages to add/modify systems or Maintains the design basis or standards for PPL RI equipment or facilities, and as needed produces design documents to change that design.

- Provides functional advice or training to less-experienced engineers and other technical Serves as a technical expert in specific areas. - May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology discipline. In lieu of degree, applicants who have PE license in the state of Rhode Island will be considered.

- Engineer in Training certificate.
- Experience in the energy industry.
- Professional Engineer licensed in the state of Rhode Island.
Senior Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology from a college or university program accredited by ABET or recognized by ABET as substantially equivalent.
- Professional Engineer registered in applicable state.
