POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for directing and coordinating the engineering and design functions required to manufacture
equipment for the oilfield drilling and well servicing industry.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Accountable for overall management of engineering for up to two product lines including coordination of staff, workload balancing, and setting timelines, goals, and budgets.
  • Develops new products from concept through testing and production.
  • Organizes engineering staff to accomplish goals efficiently and authorizes recruitment of additional personnel as needed.
  • Evaluates employee performance and makes recommendations to hire, promote, terminate, and
  • Monitors project progress by conferring with engineers and reviewing reports to ensure that project development progresses according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensures product designs meet customer specifications while meeting appropriate standards and practices.
  • Meet with customers, vendors, and third party manufacturers as required.
  • Maintain high standards of the Engineering department.
  • Assist the Sales and Quotations departments to ensure costing, scope of work, and timelines meet customer expectations.
  • Responsible for coordinating with salespeople, project coordinators, and other internal and external parties to ensure the timely shipment of products.
  • Liaison between production, engineering, and sales personnel.
  • Mentor less experienced staff and assist subordinates in day-to-day work.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or General Education (GED) and five to ten years related experience. Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field strongly preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Expert level knowledge of AutoCAD and
Inventor. Extensive prior experience with JD Edwards systems preferred.

Certificates & Licenses
Professional Engineer preferred

Other Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of oilfield drilling, well servicing, mobile equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, CWB, CE-ATEX, and OH&S.

OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work outside as well as in a shop environment. Shop environment may not have air conditioning.
