Brenham Next is looking for its next Executive Director to lead and shepherd this dynamic ministry.




Position: Executive Director, Brenham Next

Objective: To provide Christ-like leadership to Brenham Next

Reports to: Board of Directors, Brenham Next

Supervises: All Brenham Next employees and volunteers

Status: Full-time, Exempt


QUALIFICATIONS

The Executive Director must ascribe to Brenham Next’s Statement of Faith and Mission Statement, hold to the highest standards of Christian belief and conduct, and must embody and live out the teachings of Christ in both personal and professional life. It is essential that the Executive Director be a practicing Christian, set a Christ-like example, and provide both spiritual and organizational leadership to the ministry.

  • Education : Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience : Previous experience leading teams, providing financial oversight, managing operations, fundraising, and serving (whether paid or volunteer) in a Christian ministry
  • Skills : Excellent math/verbal, written/verbal communication, public speaking, networking, management, administrative, and leadership skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and/or Apple or Google equivalents

JOB SUMMARY

The Executive Director provides leadership, builds relationships, stewards resources, and spiritually shepherds staff, volunteers, partners, students, and their families to fulfill Brenham Next’s mission:

To equip and empower the next generation of Brenham youth with knowledge and spiritual tools. As a community serving Christ, we hope to witness a new community of Biblical leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serve as the spiritual leader of Brenham Next by casting a Christ-centered vision, fostering a Christ-like atmosphere, and inspiring others to follow Jesus in both their personal and professional lives

2. Prayerfully partner with the Board of Directors to seek God’s vision and direction for Brenham Next

3. Oversee Brenham Next staff, volunteers, facilities/equipment, budget, and general operations

4. Develop and maintain strong relationships w/ board, staff, volunteers, partners, donors, participants, and participant families

5. Ensure that Brenham Next meets goals set by the Board of Directors

FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP

1. Create and submit a proposed annual budget to the Board of Directors

2. Ensure that expenses remain within limits established by board-approved annual budget

3. Manage Brenham Next cash flow to ensure expenses do not exceed income

4. In collaboration with the Board of Directors and the Treasurer, provide financial oversight and ensure financial resources are safeguarded and stewarded wisely

DEVELOPMENT, FUNDRAISING, AND COMMUNITY AWARENESS

1. Create an annual development/fundraising plan and execute that plan to ensure full funding of the board-approved budget

2. Build/maintain long-term relationships with partners, donors, foundations, and community groups

3. Tell the Brenham Next “story” to partners, donors, foundations, and community groups; serve as “the face” of Brenham Next

4. Be engaged in the Brenham/Washington County community and be present at community events throughout the year

5. Fulfill grant application and reporting requirements

6. Develop and implement a plan for ongoing donor appreciation

STAFF AND VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP

1. Recruit and retain staff and volunteers by:

a. creating an attractive work culture

b. providing written job descriptions

c. outlining specific performance goals

d. effectively training and equipping staff and volunteers for their roles

e. providing feedback, correction, and encouragement


2. Develop and implement a plan for discipling and mentoring Brenham Next staff

3. Delegate responsibilities to staff/volunteers with an eye both to accomplishing needed tasks for the work of the ministry and to raising up and empowering people to grow to new levels of leadership

4. Manage staff/volunteer schedules to ensure effective use of time for maximum impact

PARTNERSHIPS

1. Build/maintain strong relationships with all partners including Brenham ISD (school board members, superintendent, administrators, principals, teachers, and other school district staff), church partners, nonprofit partners, and any other organizations supporting Brenham Next’s work

2. Maintain clear, timely, friendly communication with all partners

SAFETY, SECURITY, AND COMPLIANCE

1. Develop and implement safety and security plans for all programs and ensure that all staff and volunteers are properly trained to follow safety and security protocols for routine operations and for emergencies (including but not limited to: active shooter, fire safety, medical emergencies, severe weather, child abuse prevention and awareness, and child sexual abuse prevention and awareness)

2. Develop a reporting policy that complies with all local, state, and federal laws regarding reporting of suspected child abuse and ensure that all staff and volunteers are aware of the policy and trained in how to report suspected abuse

3. Ensure appropriate levels of insurance are maintained for all programs and for the board

4. Ensure facilities, equipment, and both paper and electronic records/data remain secure at all times

5. Ensure confidentiality of staff, volunteer, partner, donor, and participant data

6. Ensure that all Brenham Next operations comply with all federal, state, and local laws

7. Serve as compliance officer for any and all regulatory matters

BOARD

1. Coordinate with Board President to schedule and plan Brenham Next board meetings

2. Provide operational, financial, and fundraising reports to the Board

3. Attend meetings/events and participate in special projects as deemed necessary by the Board

4. Any and all other matters necessary to further the mission & purpose of Brenham Next

EMPLOYMENT AT WILL

All employees of Brenham Next are employed at the will of the organization and the Board of Directors (except in cases where a valid written employment contract is in effect). TIME COMMITMENT

1. Generally 40 hours per week, with additional hours required during peak periods

2. Must be available for meetings, special events and training, as well as recruitment opportunities, as needed

3. Must be willing to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the ministry

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Some work will be completed in a professional office setting

2. Some work will be completed in a typical classroom setting

3. Some work will be completed in a large auditorium, cafeteria, or gym setting with loud music

3. Some work will be completed at program sites and, at times, in outdoor settings, often in the extreme Texas summer heat

4. The noise level in the environment is usually very loud and noisy.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

1. Standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, running

2. Occasional stress from dealing with multiple tasks
