Job description
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.The primary purpose of the position is to provide semi-skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Required Skills are: -General knowledge and understating of the standard practice and methods of the electrical trade. -General skills in the use and care of tools and equipment of the electrical trade. -Ability to interpret and work from sketches. -Knowledge and understanding of the NEC Standards. -Ability to follow oral and written instructions is mandatory. -Requires valid North Carolina Driver’s License; CDL or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification.
Optional Guidelines:
Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to those applicants with the following training and experience: -Working knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the electrical trade. -Ability to interpret blue prints, schematics, drawings and technical manuals. – Prefer a minimum of one year of commercial electrical experience.
