Facilities Technician

Job Description Summary

The Facilities Technician is responsible for handling and performing a variety of non-technical maintenance, painting, carpentry, custodial, plumbing, general repair, and other handyperson tasks at facility or complex. This role is expected to supervise, lead, and train other non-technical, non-licensed staff including Maintenance Helpers in the completion of a variety of building/facility maintenance and repair tasks.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • In coordination with Facilities Manager and the other skilled trades at the facility, is responsible for daily property inspections, prioritizing work orders, handling urgent requests, responding to client’s work order request for maintenance and facility/equipment repairs, assist with the moving of critical equipment throughout the premises and ensuring the completion of any and all assigned preventative maintenance work and procedures, ensure the cleanliness of the premises via inspection and light supervision.

  • Coordinates with other technicians in the repair and service of building and central plant equipment. Handles the non-technical repairs of the facility.

  • Expected to promptly respond and assign appropriate resources to handle non-technical tenant requests (e.g., hanging pictures, desk repairs, ceiling repairs, etc.).

  • Expected to support the various trade personnel at a facility or complex in the performance and completion of their duties as needed and assigned.

  • Helps to ensure all building and maintenance policies, procedures, SOP’s, codes, regulations, etc. are followed and enforced including safety systems and standards.

  • May be required to respond to restroom service requests.

  • May be required to pick up supplies from area supplier when requested

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous Experience:

  • At least 1 to 3 years of mechanical experience preferably in a commercial or industrial facility with an emphasis in facility maintenance plus experience with electrical, building equipment and building repairs.

  • Prior supervisory experience and computer knowledge is necessary. State Driver’s license required

Targeted Competencies:

  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including bending, squatting, stretching and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. On occasion, may be required to lift items weighing 50 to 100 pounds.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, tenants, client representatives or employees of C&W.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to positively deal with problems, resolve issues, address client and tenant needs as they relate to the maintenance of the facility, and handle multiple assignments and projects at the same time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices

  • Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine

  • Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work

  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you

  • Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing

  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, drawings, and schematics

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $21.49 - $26.88
