JOB SUMMARY:
The Family Safety Support Program is an intensive in-home program that is designed to ensure child safety and prevent the removal of children from their home. Family Support Workers seek to preserve the family unit by working with families to address safety concerns or threats. Our program is designed to be community based, comprehensive, culturally competent, family focused and individually tailored to meet the needs of children and families
Family Support Workers will also focus on enhancing the parent’s ability to appropriately care for and relate to the child, helping the parent(s) to develop appropriate parenting behaviors, and identify and resolve problems before the children return home in cases where children are placed out-of-home.
SALARY: $18.00-20.00 per hour
LOCATION & HOURS: Office is based in Racine, WI. Hours are typically Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm with occasional evenings to accommodate clients' needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage protective plans and in-home safety plans. Ensure that danger threats are being controlled and the issues of maltreatment are addressed.
- Conduct home visits to assess risk of child abuse/neglect, plan for child safety, and strengthen families.
- Conduct face-to-face contacts with all assigned families as instructed by the safety plan, at minimum, on a weekly basis.
- Facilitate parent education to strengthen families and reduce risk of maltreatment.
- Provide service referrals, resources, and link families to community supports to achieve and maintain child safety.
- Coordinate and facilitate the Family Teaming process. Engage the family in interventions through the use of formal, informal and natural supports.
- Ensure that children attend required medical care appointments.
- Conduct supervised and monitored visits. .
- Safely transport clients as needed.
- After training is complete, staff are added to on-call duties to monitor occasional after-hours calls.
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services related field.
- One year of experience working with high-risk youth and families is required.
