We are hiring multiple family time coordinators (social service assistants) to join our Child Welfare team in Salem.

As a Family Time Coordinator, you will:

Gather and document information from the caseworker, children, parents, relatives, case providers, schools and other resources to plan family time visits.

Meet with parents and caregivers to review family time agreements and guidelines.

Supervise family time between children, parents and family members in an office setting or in a community setting.

Observe and document family time.
-
Transport children to family time. Occasionally, you will assist with transporting children to other appointments as needed.

Collaborate with Caseworkers to assess level and location of family time supervision on an on-going basis.

Participate and attend meetings related to family/team decision making.
What you need to qualify
One year of experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs.
OR
Possession of a current certification in child development, early childhood education, addiction counseling preparation or juvenile corrections.
OR
45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training.
OR
An associate degree in a field not closely related to social work/human services AND six months of human services-related experience (e.g. work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).

Experience using MS Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Experience writing documents or reports in plain language using correct grammar/spelling.

Knowledge, training, and/or education surrounding addiction, mental health and/or trauma.

Knowledge, training, and/or education in child development.

Demonstrated ability to work and learn independently while managing time successfully.

Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to engage with a variety of people, the ability to de-escalate tense situations, and the ability to be assertive when necessary.

Working conditions

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with an hour lunch break.

Work is done in the office and in the field, including in client homes.

Some travel is required, including during inclement weather.

Work will involve lifting and carrying younger children, car seats, diaper bags, etc.
-
Occasional compensated overtime on nights and weekends may be required.
-
You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma, and exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
