Position Summary:
The Land, Farm, & Property Manager is responsible for managing the company s land/lease holdings in accordance with the company s stated mission, purpose, and values. The management of the real assets involves working within the framework of the Quarry Development Department in conjunction with the Executive, Financial, and the Operations branches of Wendling. The primary basis for this position is to establish and maintain personal relationships with a vast variety and number of people and entities including neighbors, regulators, farm tenants, employees and industry partners. Secondary responsibilities such as the financial analysis, organization and maintenance of records and the physical activities associated with property management fall within the regular duties of this job. .

Title: Land, Farm, & Property Manager
Department: Quarry Development / Mine Services
Reports To: Quarry Development Director
Location: Dewitt, Iowa
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Relationship Management: Establish and maintain relationships with lessors, neighbors, government officials, and other key stakeholders. Assist with public relations, which may include presentations, tours, and participation in industry associations and political organizations. (Approximately 25% of time is spent on this function)
  • Property Leasehold Management: Develop and maintain agreements and relationships for the company s leased land holdings. Prepare legal instruments and work with the company s CFO and legal consultants. (Approximately 25% of time is spent on this function)
  • Land Management (Owned Land): Overall management of the agricultural and timbered land, which includes working with farm tenants, USDA/FSA and NRCS offices, managing CRP contracts, timber harvesting, fencing and neighbor issues and the oversights of recreation use permits. Management of rental dwellings in conjunction with in-house maintenance department and external subcontractors. (Approximately 25% of time is spent on this function)
  • Zoning and Permitting: Lead the formulation of tactics and preparation of presentations for zoning and annexation cases. Manage internal and external communications associated with the establishment of new and expansion of existing sites. Work within the inter-departmental structure for the advancement of permitting related to quarry development, which may included wetland, archeological, and cultural surveys. Oversee bonding associated with zoning requirements. (Approximately 15% of time is spent on this function)
  • Property Tax Management: Oversee the management of the company s property taxes. This duty includes working with several departments within the company, as well as county/city assessor s offices. Map and delineate the use type for quarry parcels on an annual basis. (Approximately 5% of time is spent on this function)
  • Mine Licensing: Complete the annual IDALS Mines and Minerals Bureau reporting and maintain a relationship with State Mine Inspectors. (Approximately 5% of time is spent on this function)

Education Level
Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required. A two-year AAS or equivalent, with minimum two years related experience and/or training in combination with good communication skills is also acceptable.
