Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. Job Summary:

The Palmetto Bluff Farm aspires to serve as more than a farm, we are leading the way to recapture and cultivate authentic farming practices of the Lowcountry of South Carolina. We are growing and need a Farm Assistant to help with day-to-day oversight of the Farm including delivering produce to our outlets on property, planting and harvesting crops, taking care of livestock, and helping with member events. The Farm Assistant’s regular work schedule is Wednesday to Friday, 8 am. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 pm. The schedule will vary based on events at the Farm and seasonal workloads for planting and harvesting. This individual should have previous experience in farming / farm operations.

Essential Job Functions:

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

• Day to day help with oversight of Farm operations.
• Deliver produce to property outlets.
• Monitor Farm animals and guide guests and members around the Farm, for example: private tours.
• Assist with Farm events.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be able to work proactively and independently.
• Ability to drive and operate a side-by-side and golf cart to deliver produce to outlets.
• Proven customer service orientation.
• Experience working with and understanding of vegetable plants and their habitats.
• Great communication skills & respectful of our members, guests, and the Farm.
• Availability to work late hours for events.
• Driver’s license with good driving record.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to work in outside conditions for most of the day, rain or sun.
• Ability to lift and carry over 20 pounds as necessary.
• Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.
• Seeing to read a variety of materials.
