Job Responsibilities:

To assist farm and ranch leaders to promote agriculture by providing background assistance in reducing work load and time on the part of volunteer leaders and to assist in building strong county Farm Bureaus.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

Assist in developing, coordinating and implementing agriculture and member programs in assigned areas.

Provide liaison between the state and county units on programs in respective area.

Provide training to county officers, committees, leaders and office staff to assist them to understand their roles and become more effective.

Implement procedures and provide information to counties that will satisfy county requests on Farm Bureau programs.

Meet with county boards to provide information and assistance.

Encourage volunteer membership leaders to ensure a maximum number of gaining counties in respective area.

Assist as requested in planning and conducting the district, state and special county meetings involving other state staff.

Assist counties in promoting agriculture via Ag-in-the-Classroom program.

Work with the media, legislative offices and other duties as assigned by the Director of Field Operations.

Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Other duties may be assigned.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Agriculture background.

Effective writing skills.

Ability to create and present presentations.

Ability to meet and work with the media.

Ability to organize and develop plans in order to implement programs.

Working knowledge of basic computer applications, mainly Microsoft Office Suite.

Effective time management skills. Self-disciplined and mature judgment needed.

Ability to understand and carry out directions as needed.

Some knowledge of legislative process.

Job will require travel and varying hours of work including some weekends.

Must comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

You must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation, or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status, under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Long, irregular work hours.

Travel, including overnight travel, as required.

Repeated use of PC, telephone, and office machines.

Extended periods of sitting and concentrating.

Regular bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching in an office or field environment.

Physical activities, including lifting, carrying, up to 50 pounds.
