The Financial Analyst is a key member of the Corporate Accounting team and is responsible for, amongst other things, preparing monthly and quarterly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and maintenance of the standard cost system. This position will perform financial analysis utilizing appropriate financial concepts and techniques and recommend alternative courses of action. Additionally, this role will also be responsible for supporting the management of inventory.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all transactions and obligations are properly recorded. Monitor and approve system interfaces, advance allocation schedules, prepare journal entries, and review account level detail to ensure complete and accurate reporting.
  • Assist management in analyzing and understanding operating results including actual costs and variances from historical trends, plan, and forecast as a means of driving continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Interpret operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the organization and make specific recommendations that will result in cost reduction, profit improvement and/or enhance internal control. Proactively work with department managers to facilitate understanding of reported results and drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for the accounting of fixed assets, including additions, disposals, roll forwards, monthly journal entries and reconciliations at the corporate level.
  • Participate in the budgeting process as it relates to capital expenditures and depreciation.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, establishment and documentation of accounting policies and procedures in keeping with GAAP and/or local statutory requirements.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain accurate product cost standards for product lines. Perform procedures to ensure inventory accuracy. Assist with physical inventory at year-end.
  • Support development of the annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecast and 3-year capital plan.
  • Prepare/review audit work papers with external auditors.
  • Perform other routine and ad hoc analysis as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited University.
  • 2-5 years of general accounting experience.
  • Strong MS Office experience. Must be proficient in Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact and influence individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions to non-standard situations.
  • Proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and drive process improvements.
  • Track record of independently handling multiple tasks, dealing with ambiguity, and completing assignments within time constraints.
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights and Business Intelligence tools a plus.
  • Experience with standard cost and fixed asset accounting highly preferred.
