Position Highlights:
The Financial Analyst supports the development and tracking of clinical, education and research budgets, financial analyses, creation and maintenance of financial reports, as well as assisting Principal Investigators (PIs) with post grant and clinical trial financial analysis. Required Position Qualifications Include:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Administration, Accounting or Finance with five years of experience; or Master's degree with more than two years of experience in healthcare administration or finance required.
Previous experience in clinical, research, or health care field preferred

Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills are required to effectively build relationships and collaborate in the broad network of Rush University Medical Center (RUMC).
Ability to work independently with minimal direction and to work as part of a team.
Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines, possess strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
Ability to exercise judgment when dealing with confidential matters.
Business acumen and ability to think systemically and strategically.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Position Responsibilities:
Reporting and Analysis
Tracks and inputs monthly performance and financial data into an executive dashboard.
In coordination with the Office of Research Affairs, maintains and develops a standardized model and format for pricing all clinical research activities.
Maintains and monitors study budget/contract expiration dates and initiate budget amendments accordingly.
Create various financial analyses reports as needed.
Coordinates preparation and submission of financial reports and other paperwork.
Budgeting
Assists in the submission of annual budgets working with department and division administration.
Supports division leadership in the preparation of reports and analyses related to clinical, education and research budgets.
Identifies opportunities and recommends implementation of process changes to support greater efficiency and usefulness in the budget creation and tracking.
Monitors department¡¦s funding availability and commitments, to maintain accurate spending against grant budgets
Monitors and formulates revenue earned for work performed on research studies and executes any buy-back opportunities for faculty.
Monitors labor allocations across funds and accounting units and implements change requests (labor distributions and cost transfers), working with Medical Affairs and other Departments to confirm approved changes.
As directed, prepares journal entries and other expense allocation documentation as needed.
Serves as resource determining research price rates for clinical trial study budgets. Sets up study billing forms for research accounts with necessary departments.
Assists clinical research staff in end-of-month reconciliation and collections processes; including accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, as needed.
Utilizes the clinical trial management system to extract financial data to support PIs, Department Research Director and Division Administrators
Additional Duties
As directed, may develop revenue and expense financial analyses and modeling to determine the impact of proposed opportunities on department¡¦s or divisions¡¦ financial outlook.
Coordinates the tracking and organization/maintenance of department financial and operational records
Develops and maintains strong, collaborative working relationships with key contacts including Finance, Rush University Medical Group, Rush Medical College and Office of Research Affairs.
