About the Opportunity
The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the budget and grant reporting activities of the organization. The position prepares financial reports, monitors fiscal actions, and maintains records to analyze data and complete corrections via journal entries as needed. The position issues accounts receivable invoices via Quickbooks and completes revenue reporting, seeking to make improvements in analyzing, creating, and tracking accounts receivable for underwriting and project partnership activities. The Financial Analyst analyzes contract agreements, creating financial spreadsheets to track this revenue, both for IRS Unrelated Business Income reporting and grant reporting requirements. This position provides expert and/or technical guidance to staff and management on required reporting to agencies and grant sponsors, including potential tax implications. The duties also include managing Peoplesoft access for staff and working with the System Office to diagnose any access and/or approval issues.


This position may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

About the Team
PBS North Carolina’s Operations/Management Division, which includes Human Resources and Finance, is responsible for driving operations and ensuring strategic alignment and compliance across all aspects of the organization in order to achieve its mission and vision. Operations/Management is responsible for administering PBS NC's financial affairs and for the administrative operations of PBS NC, and for ensuring compliance with and reporting of state, federal, and university financial and technology regulations.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
Entry-level with master’s degree; or bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years’ experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Competencies
-Knowledge of applicable statutes, regulations, entity/company practices and concepts. Knowledge of general principles of financial management, investment capital, risk analysis, debt management, generally accepted accounting principles and/or investment analysis. -Ability to provide basic or general oral and written information. Ability to interact with internal and external clients/customers using both oral and written communication skills to discuss financial processes or issues. Ability to organize and format reports to comply with applicable guidelines. Ability to provide appropriate documentation to support conclusions. -Ability to gather, organize, and analyze financial information and other data. Ability to review and document compliance with laws and regulations. Ability to review, examine, and prepare documents. Ability to research, investigate, and analyze data. Ability to function within defined guidelines and procedures to resolve routine issues, and to make independent and logical decisions and/or recommendations.
