Position Summary:
Supervises the day-to-day activities of field site support personnel within the Environmental Remediation Program. This position maintains required safety, security and operational training, assures procedural and regulatory compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task. This includes taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Major Duties & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
Oversees the daily activities of assigned support personnel.- Coordinates with Project and Program Directors to ensure appropriate staffing resources are available.
- Maintains a weekly and two month schedule to accurately forecast staffing requirements and identify potential resourcing needs and shortages.
- Ensures that all security requirements are met to comply with LANL/DOE Limited Areas.
- Coordinates with site personnel and subcontractors conducting remediation activities.
- Provides technical guidance as required.
- Monitor and maintain subcontracts for adequate funding of assigned personnel.
- Work with N3B Business Services and staffing subcontractors to address any potential staffing shortages.
- Ensures compliance with all health and safety policies and practices.
Education & Essential Functions:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks and to analyze and develop innovative solutions to problems.
- Ability to recommend approaches for new and improved processes.
- Ability to work with broad objectives, with latitude to determine the best way to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to lead certain aspects of a task or project.
- Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
- Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
- Ability to work in a team oriented project environment.
Level Descriptions:
Individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties may vary based on the classification level as follows:
- LEVEL III: An employee in this position performs a full-range experienced journey-level professional work under little or no supervision. This level requires five to eight (5-8) years of relevant experience and full exercise of discretion and independent judgement.
- LEVEL IV: An employee in this position performs a senior-level professional work and provides technical advise and training to lower-level staff. This level requires nine or more (9+) years of relevant
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
- Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work.
- The employee exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
- May require occasional work in the field where outdoor conditions are present.
