Job description
Provides fiscal support to the Business Office with emphasis on offender trust accounts. Processes, reviews, and analyzes a range of data to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures. Performs technical fiscal and accounting duties by preparing and maintaining fiscal records and reports. Ensures all accounting transactions are completed in accordance with Department of Corrections and Department of Accounts policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in an accounting/bookkeeping setting and performing detailed work with numerical data and mathematical calculations. Recent working knowledge of office procedures, data entry, and record maintenance. Recent experience using basic office equipment including the operation of a 10-key calculator. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel/Spreadsheets. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer post-secondary coursework in basic accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent training. Prefer knowledge of public sector purchasing and accounting practices. Prefer experience in public sector accounting. Working knowledge of EVA, Cardinal, and CORIS Inmate Trust.

Special Instructions to Applicants
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
