THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT HALIFAX CORRECTIONAL UNIT IN HALIFAX VA.
Ensure that fiscal reconciliation, reporting, and record retention of accounting documents are performed in compliance with all policies/procedures and laws related to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles within the State government. Assist in reconciling the monthly bank statements for Commissary, Employee Fund, Offender Trust, and CommonHealth. Assist in the entry of data, updating, and maintaining the Institution’s Virginia Agency Property System (VAPS), Fixed Asset Accounting and Control System (FAACS), and Material and Supply Inventory (M&S). Maintain, update, and enter data for the Institution’s Content Inventory. Assist Business Office with other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in an accounting/bookkeeping setting and performing detailed work with numerical data and mathematical calculations. Recent working knowledge of office procedures, data entry, and record maintenance. Recent experience using basic office equipment including the operation of a 10-key calculator. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel/Spreadsheets. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer post-secondary coursework in basic accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent training. Prefer working knowledge of State Financial Programs including CARDINAL, FAACS, Offender Trust, and Offender Pay. Prefer knowledge of State travel policies.
