Essential Function:
The Food Pantry Supervisor oversees the operations of the Camden Kroc Center’s Choice Food Pantry, including but not limited to the supervision and coordination of food pantry volunteers, the purchasing and restocking of food pantry items, the monitoring of costs and quality control, the coordination of food delivery program (for the disabled, seniors, etc.), and the generation of various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Additionally, The Food Pantry Supervisor may assist other outreach/social services staff in the conducting of outreach programs and may provide general program and/or clerical support to the Outreach Manager as it relates to the successful execution of various outreach programs and services.
Specifically, the primary duties are:
- Maintain the Choice Food Pantry inventory by placing orders with vendors and/or food banks as well as purchasing food and non-food items from local stores.
- Establish (in consultation with the supervisor) re-order points for various food items that are regularly needed. Work to anticipate special food needs in advance of the general need, when possible.
- Train, schedule, and provide supervision of food pantry volunteer(s).
- Coordinate food delivery program (if established), including but not limited to matching volunteers with clients who require special delivery (i.e., homebound, etc.), phoning clients to secure their food order, and scheduling volunteers to pick up and deliver orders.
- Record and report regular counts, such as the daily number of clients served, the total amount of food distributed, etc., as well as any weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly reports as established by the supervisor.
- Identify updates so that the food pantry menu, brochure, or other printed materials are up-to-date and in good order.
- Pack food pantry orders and stock shelves as needed. May coordinate the assistance of volunteers for the packing of food and stocking of shelves. Assist with and/or coordinate the unloading of food donation(s) / deliveries.
- Work with the Social Services Manager to make recommendations for general food pantry policies and guidelines to assist in the general upkeep and operation of the Choice Food Pantry.
- Notify the Social Services Manager of food shortages and make recommendations to remedy problems.
- Obtain weekly Choice Food pantry orders from a variety of organizations.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) or more years prior work experience in a food services/food pantry setting.
- Prior experience supervising and/or coordinating the work of volunteers.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (including Word and Excel).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have a good standing driving record
- Must have the ability to drive a 15-passenger van
- Knowledge of various email applications (i.e., Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes).
- Good organization skills and timely follow-up skills ensure that any concerns are reported timely, clearly, and addressed in an appropriate time frame for overall cleanliness and safety.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills. (Bi-lingual English / Spanish a plus.)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
