Job Purpose and Impact

The Food Scientist will provide technical expertise on meat product development and innovation with emphasis in beef raw material quality and functional properties, processing to add value, and ensuring a safe and wholesome product for customer and consumer. In this role, you will coordinate with other scientists to innovate new product development by identifying and implementing technical solutions to meet business goals. We seek a highly motivated professional that thinks out of the box and finds innovative and cost-effect solutions for the business and customers. In this role, you will independently recognize and commercialize technical solutions to meet business goals. Key Accountabilities

Identify product growth and new product opportunities providing technical and scientific solutions in meat product development and commercialization with a focus within raw material usage, processing, quality, and food safety.
Analyze and interpret market data to take advantage of opportunities and minimize adverse trends.
Stay abreast of current literature and analytical advancements to develop short and long-term testing programs for experimental and commercial products and IP generation.
Provide technical guidance and leadership to improve processing efficiency, throughput, product quality, and food safety of ground beef products.
Collaborate and build partnership with sales, business management and marketing partners to identify customer needs and translate these into new product development opportunities.
Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Two or more years combined professional experience in the following areas: protein formulation development, ingredient functionality and product commercialization.
Minimum of two years of related work experience
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Meat Science, Animal Science, or related field.
Master's degree or other post-secondary degree. Experience in meat quality, processing, research and development, sensory evaluation, product development, etc.
Knowledge in beef raw material utilization and processing
Strategic thinker with ability to build effective plans to support business strategies and goals.
Experimental design and statistical analysis. Position Information

This role requires a candidate to be in Wichita, Kansas surrounding area. Domestic relocation will be offered for this role.
