Job Title: Foods Compliance Specialist
Salary: $80K-$100K (DOE) + Bonus
Work Location: Novato, CA
Work Hour: 7:30am -4:30pm or 8:30am to 5:30pm
Position Summary
- Reporting to the Food Safety Compliance Specialist, the Compliance and Data Coordinator is responsible for supporting FDA and USDA compliance
- Key parts of this role include verifying that our Company’s foreign and domestic food production partners manufacture products in accordance with FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA including FSVP) and USDA regulations.
- Critical to this role is maintaining and providing accurate data and information in a timely, efficient, and secure manner to align with expectations from regulatory authorities, customers, and internal team members.
- Candidates with FDA and/or USDA experience, a passion for the food business, a keen eye for detail and accuracy, and interpersonal communication skills are highly desirable.
Objectives
- Continuously strive for the improvement of Company regulatory compliance, data and data systems and processes in support of the Company’s strategic imperatives.
- Proactively collaborate as a solution-focused resource for the cross-functional team to ensure that products and projects are regulatorily compliant, competitively positioned, and build trust for customers, consumers, and regulatory authorities.
- Foster productive cross-functional relationships internally and externally with production partners and customers to enable effective, efficient, and value-creating data sharing and analytics.
Education, Training, and/or Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science, nutrition, or related field required.
- A minimum of two (2)+ years’ experience in FDA and/or USDA regulated industries. Qualified Individual and/or PCQI certification (food) preferred. Experience with US food labeling regulations a plus.
- GFSI benchmarked (e.g., SQF, FSSC 22000, etc.) and/or HACCP certification are ideal.
- Strong aptitude for technology. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Comfort with collaborative software/communication tools (MS Teams, Zoom, Skype, etc.). Experience with QuickBooks, SalesForce, or Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) software systems are assets.
- English is the primary language. Japanese or Spanish, while beneficial, are not required.
