The University makes available a broad array of credit and non-credit courses, seminars and workshops through the Division of Extended Studies. Some programs are offered on campus and others at off-campus sites more convenient to persons living outside of Pueblo. Off-campus instruction sites include Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, and Fort Carson.

The Division of Extended Studies provides courses to full-time, part-time, and non-traditional students. Many educational methods—classroom instruction, correspondence courses, online courses, conferences, workshops, and seminars—are utilized to expand educational access and meet the needs of students at convenient times and settings. Students may earn academic credit toward a degree, study for career advancement, or pursue cultural and vocational interests.

Description of Job

The Fort Carson Student Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for the on-site coordination of services at the Ft. Carson Education Center in Colorado Springs. This position will secondarily be responsible for on-site coordination of services at the secondary CSU Pueblo location in Colorado Springs. This position helps active-duty soldiers, their dependents, and veterans to become students at CSU Pueblo through assistance with application, TA benefits, registration support, and advising processes. The position also provides administrative help for in-person courses at Fort Carson as well as participating in recruitment events, registration fairs, and marketing and outreach efforts necessary to help ensure enrollment success.

Primary Duties
Student and Program Support

  • Provides comprehensive administration for CSU Pueblo operations at Ft. Carson Education Center including maintaining policies and procedures, assisting staff and students in choosing courses to support student success and conversions to degree-seeking status, instructing students on the procedures for applying for admissions, financial aid, registration, student support services, paying for courses and securing payment verification.
  • Instructs and advises students in the proper procedures when applying for Active Military Tuition Assistance (TA). Coordinates with the Military and Veteran Success Center for Veteran student support and the tracking of active-duty students and billing processes of students using TA; this also includes the updating of CSU Pueblo programs and tuition and fees in all military branch portals as required by each military branch. Enters grades for active-duty soldiers in the military portals. Acts as a liaison for students using military tuition assistance.
  • Creates and loads degree plans in TA portals.
  • Assists students, staff, and faculty in accessing courses and the CSU Pueblo office at Fort Carson. Actively establishes positive working relationships with partner/site system staff members to support program efficacy and growth.
Recruitment and Outreach
  • Coordinates with the Division of Enrollment Management to support recruitment and conversion of prospective and non-degree students from events and other efforts at the Education Center.
  • Provides proactive outreach to military, veteran, and civilian communities to promote courses at Ft. Carson or other CSU Pueblo locations.
  • Coordinate with the Division and marketing resources to prepare materials including flyers and other promotional publications for outreach opportunities including but not limited to fairs, community outreach activities, and community college partnerships.
Class Scheduling and Support
  • Coordinates with the Division and departments to determine offerings at Ft. Carson to ensure classes have adequate space and technology resources for class instruction; works with the Colorado Springs team to ensure courses are listed and available for registration.
  • Supports faculty onboarding to include recruiting, recommending, orienting, and supporting access to Ft. Carson.
Division and University Affairs
  • Participates in Division and University affairs at CSU Pueblo, satellite and system locations as necessary to enhance the assigned programs' performance and quality. Works to meet the expectations of the university's mission and vision.
  • Recruits, schedules, trains, and supervises student workers and part-time staff as needed.
Ancillary Duties

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and enterprise information systems
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Minimum 1-year full time professional work experience
  • Experience working in an environment that promoted diversity and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, mass communications, or closely related field
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes across multiple sites
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience working with competing priorities and multiple time-sensitive projects; knowledge of college admissions, advising, enrollment, and financial aid procedures
  • Experience working with active military and military family member students.
  • Experience working with exterior partners and diverse student populations
Condition of Employment
Evidence of your being fully vaccinated for COVID-19, or applicable exemption, is required as a condition of employment with CSU Pueblo. Employment is contingent upon your submission of records showing full vaccination for COVID-19, or receiving the first dose of a two-dose vaccine—or a single dose vaccine—before your hire date and submitting evidence of a second dose (as necessary, based on vaccination type) within 30 calendar days of your hire date, or completion of an exemption before your hire date.

Salary Range
$45,000 - $50,000
