The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is seeking qualified applicants for a position in the Foster Care and Adoption unit with a demonstrated ability to recruit and train foster parents to care for children and youth entering foster care.

The ideal Foster Care Trainer & Recruiter will be a dynamic, engaging individual with knowledge of the child welfare system. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Planning and attending recruitment events
• Developing training materials
• Providing regular training opportunities
• Responding to prospective foster parent inquires
• Organizing events for foster families
• Collaborating with community partners to provide training and support
• Conducting initial home visits with prospective foster families

Ideal candidate will have:

• Knowledge of adult learning theory and various methodology and modes of training
• Knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures related to foster/adoptive children and training for families providing care for children
• Knowledge of bio-psycho-social issues facing children and implications for training needs for families providing out-of-home care
• Knowledge of database management, spread sheets, PowerPoint presentations, word processing, and other computer driven programs used in the Training Division
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with emergency response activities
• Ability to analyze critical situations and to adapt quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action with due regard to safety, surrounding hazards, and circumstances
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field; two (2) years of directly related work experience with foster/adoptive and/or Social Services programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Successful candidates must be available for duty beyond the normal workday which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, as required to perform functions of the position.
• This position is considered essential personnel and will require report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency (e.g., weather, transportation, disaster).
• May also be required to work form, and may be assigned to, an alternate worksite(s) within the county to carry out duties that support operational needs.

Pass pre-employment background checks to include criminal, credit, CPS and DMV. Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
