ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Schedule the movement of shipments with carriers (via truck, ocean, and air) to the assigned origin and/or destination points and follow up to ensure timely arrival negotiating rates with local carriers.
• Develop knowledge of the shipping process and government regulations through cross training with other team members.
• Coordinate and work closely with appointed field contacts to ensure common objectives are met, support the shipping department to achieve company goals with providing recommendations of continuous process improvements.
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the shipping department.
• Process documentation for the physical movement of cargo.
• Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with internal departments and/or vendors.
• Develop knowledge of the customer billing process and review/ audit freight charges.
• Communicate client issues or changes to the next level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field preferred.
• Experience as a freight/logistics coordinator or in a similar position.
• Deep knowledge of freight/ logistics.
• Supervisory and management experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and shipping software.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of an MRP system.
• Team player who is willing to take on a variety of responsibilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
