Job description
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the individual to stand for 4-8 hours per day. In addition, it is a requirement that the individual is capable of moving luggage or packages weighing up to 40lbs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check guests in and out of the hotel. Make future reservations when necessary.
- Post phone charges, valet charges and other miscellaneous charges to guest accounts.
- Administer hotel guest payment policies.
- Handle hotel phone system, transfer calls and take messages for the guests as well as hotel staff.
- Take, modify and cancel guest reservations, inputting it into computer, noting any special requests.
- Assist in the verification, balancing and revenue maximization of hotel's room availability.
- Coordinate with other departments to fulfill special guest requests.
- Communicate hotel facilities and services to guests at check-in.
- Answer guest questions regarding local area facilities.
- Responsible for shift cash transactions.
- Responsible for maintaining hotel key security system.
- Know hotel emergency procedures.
- Inform housekeeping of dirty suites/rooms as they become available.
- Update room status as housekeeping notifies the desk of changes.
- Read and communicate clearly.
- Distribute mail to guest boxes as well as to the hotel staff.
- Maintain an inventory of special guest service items such as cribs, irons, etc.
- Track status of suites/rooms used for tour and suites/rooms in maintenance.
- Notify housekeeping and maintenance of any reported problems with suites/rooms and the grounds.
- Be knowledgeable of any special promotions or rate programs.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of front desk and lobby area.
- Know how to properly handle wake-up calls.
- Know how to clean guest rooms to standards.
- Open and close shift; make cash drops.
- Ensure all credit cards; cash and change fund are balanced throughout each shift.
- Communicate with incoming staff and management by logging pertinent information in the front desk log.
- Pass on lost and found inquiries to management or Director of Housekeeping.
- Must wear proper uniform at all times in accordance with the Standards of Appearance.
- Carry out any reasonable request by management that I am capable of performing.
