Our very busy San Francisco Bay Area ophthalmology clinic has an open position for a full-time front desk receptionist to support the back office and physicians. Hours of Operation are Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Friday 8:30 am - 3 pm.

Our Ophthalmology clinic is well established and growing. We offer the latest technology to provide high-quality comprehensive care including medical and surgical interventions. We also have an Optometrist and Optician with a full-service optical shop offering glasses and contact lenses.

Job requirements:
Must be fluent in English (with additional language(s) a plus) and familiar with computers. This job requires frequent sitting, and occasional standing and moving around. Familiarity with Epic software a plus, with preference given to those with ophthalmology experience and/or Ophthalmic Technician background as this will be utilized.

Duties include but are not limited to answering the phone, scheduling patients, greeting patients, checking patients in and out, verifying insurance eligibility, and maintaining EHR, and scanning documents into charts.

The front desk plays an important role within the practice as it is the "hub" of the practice ensuring safety, efficiency, positive communication, patient coordination, scheduling, and office flow.

The candidate must ENJOY working at the front desk and have a willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities expected for this important role include:

  • Entering/updating registration information, scanning, etc.
  • Answering & triaging calls, taking detailed messages, and following through
  • Managing the patient schedule, including confirming and moving appointments
  • Warmly welcoming all patients, preparing paperwork, entering paperwork, triaging patients to clinical staff
  • Being poised and articulate when answering patient questions in person and on the phone
  • Having strong written and oral communication skills
  • Maintaining cleanliness standards and a clean environment in the front office to ensure the utmost patient experience, patient care, and safety.
  • Proficiency in computers, including EHR; Epic software familiarity a plus
  • Working with charge tickets and reconciling patient charges with schedule and getting daily paperwork ready for billing dept.

The ideal candidate will be focused on quality and productivity, have excellent time management and service skills, be willing to work as part of a team to deliver high-quality ophthalmic care to our patients, and protect the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures including HIPAA.
