ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • POS operations, both fuel and non-fuel
  • Cash handling: know how to recognize counterfeit money, balance drawer at the end of every shift, count float at the beginning of every shift, load a deposit bag.
  • Store Merchandising: follow the set plan-o-grams, front face products, organize displays, ensure all food is labelled with date and time of preparation, etc.
  • Follow site cleanliness procedures.
  • Have a food handler safety card and follow all safety regulations regarding food prep and care.
  • Understand and follow fuel operations and environmental safety procedures; know when to use the emergency shut off and where it is located, what to do in the event of a drive off or fuel to skin contact, etc.
  • Know and follow alcohol and tobacco sales laws; ask for ID every time, do not sell to underage customers or those who cannot verify their age.
  • Respond to customer complaints in a calm manner; aim to resolve the issue amicably with the best result for both parties.
  • Support sales initiatives and promotions

General Manager Specific Responsibilities

  • Understand all site procedures and operation including the above responsibilities; understand fuel processes, CORE expectations, staff training, reconciliation, safety and environmental regulations, audit processes, and ESO system.
  • Create a schedule to visit designated sites to support the manager and store staff in all tasks.
  • Vendor Communication: assist in contacting vendors for delayed or stopped deliveries, ensure prompt delivery of product as needed.
  • Assist managers in meeting CORE standards; create plans for addressing gap/missed points on core and mystery shops, ensure employees are aware of core expectations.
  • Interact with customers and model appropriate behavior for employees, escalate customer issues with BP when necessary.
  • Train managers, assistant managers, and CSRs on expected job duties; help select candidates for the interview process.
  • Be available to support your team, offering additional training, re-explanation, and coaching in new situations.
  • Check weekly schedules and adjust, as necessary.
  • Make sure merchandising goals and expectations are being met; assist manager if needed in adjusting store displays.
  • Monitor reconciliation reports and discuss any red flags with store managers.
  • Assist in ordering new equipment for site if necessary; collect equipment and uniforms from the office and deliver to the sites.
  • Demonstrate fuel shut off to employees, explain usage, train employees on fuel delivery safety, explain and perform pump inspections, monitor fuel usage with the Veeder-Root tank gauge, create a plan to meet compliance requirements.
  • Perform site and lot walkthroughs to point out any areas that need extra attention; discuss issues with manager and create a plan for resolution.
  • Address any site incidents, either customer or employee related; assist in contacting authorities when necessary.
  • Prepare new stores for grand openings; order product, hire staff, visit site to ensure correct set up of the sales floor and the back rooms, merchandise sales floor for the first day, set up training locations for new staff before store opening.
  • Train new managers on all site operations, assist as they transition into full responsibility of store operations.
  • Maintain communication with BP representative regarding escalating site issues or updates to the set operations systems.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma (preferred but not required)

ServSafe Food safety certification

PREFERRED SKILLS

Customer Oriented Attitude

Capability to Upsell Products

Dedication to store presentation and customer satisfaction

Able to lift up to 50 pounds, be on your feet for several hours at a time

Prior Management experience preferred

In Store experience preferred
