Overview

Join the Burlington team as a General Manager – Distribution Center – Logan Township, NJ in one of our newest, state-of-the-art Distribution Centers! Reporting to the VP of Distribution, you will be responsible for overseeing all operational duties, and all Exempt and Non-Exempt associates.

Oversee management of all areas of the DC, and direct activities so that service level requirements and quality standards are met while maintaining cost objectives. This is an operational/administrative management position reporting and accountable to the Vice President of Distribution. Activities of this position include responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating and ensuring the execution of all functions within the Distribution Center consistent with Federal, State, Company and Budgetary guidelines. The primary responsibility is to ensure maximum store service at maximum cost efficiency. This position will provide support to the 800 plus Burlington stores nationwide. Experience in a fast paced, dynamic distribution environment is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist company officers and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and oversee the building of teams through staffing, recruiting, development and engagement.
  • Promote a safety and continuous improvement mindset that has a favorable impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of the site.
  • Ensuring jointly with merchandising and buying, the maximum service level to retail customer.
  • Manage expense and assist with the preparation and execution of annual operations budgets within company expectations.
  • Evaluate site performance and productivity metrics to determine areas for operational optimization and improvement.
  • Oversee the systems and technology within the facility.
  • Support the development and maintenance of systems to ensure a safe workplace, included in this is the accountability for reduction of and control of accident costs.
  • Collaborate and support with Engineering on industry standards and new innovation
  • Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage system
  • Support training initiatives to ensure optimal staffing and efficiency levels in the Distribution Center.
  • Drive year over year improvements in all areas of responsibility.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of related experience in distribution operations and management of direct reports
  • Bi-lingual (English / Spanish) a plus
  • Excellent skills in leadership of people that drive engagement and Burlington Core Values
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of associates
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Experience with WMS, distribution technology, and distribution equipment (conveyors).
  • Ability to exercise judgment and work independently as required
  • Proficient in adapting to dynamic workflows
  • Strong operational, analytical, and technical skills
  • Experience identifying continuous improvement concepts
  • Problem solving skills along with root cause analysis
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work flexible hours
