The General Manager is responsible for maximizing the financial performance of the hotel by providing the highest possible quality of guest service and product, by fostering a positive work environment for all employees, and by developing and implementing an aggressive sale and marketing.

This position is also responsible for managing and developing the performance of all operating departments including but not limited to Reservations, Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Security and Maintenance to insure the highest possible levels of guest satisfaction in a cost-efficient manner. At least 6 years' progressive experience in a hotel or related environment; or a 4-year college degree with at least 4 to 5 years of related experience; or a 2- year college degree and at least 5 to 6 years of related experience. May be required to travel occasionally. Long hours. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may be required to lift 15-20 pounds.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform administrative duties including reading and writing reports, dictating memorandums, and orally communicating with guests, managers, corporate office, local associations, etc. Critically review reports of occupancy, revenue etc. Make judgments and implement changes to maximize profits. Supervise development of and revision to business plan, annual budget, annual and monthly forecasts, etc. Formulate complex reports. Communicate with the public, staff, corporate office, and owners
  • Interview, hire supervise and counsel department managers in the efficient operation of their respective area(s). Meet with, develop, and delegate improvement plans for operation and review performance of management team
  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication, and approve discipline and all terminations
  • Participate in community affairs and maintain positive public image for business. Meet with potential and current clients and promote hotel
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff
  • Physically tour and visually inspect property daily. Monitor cost control, property condition, cleanliness and quality of product and service throughout hotel. Greet and maintain rapport with associates and customers
  • Travel to attend corporate meetings, sales trips and serve on local committees that benefit the hotel
  • Appropriate handle associate issues in conjunction with Human Resources following guidance from company handbook
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • The employee may be expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description
  • Maintain a safe work environment for co-workers and a safe hotel for guests; please refer to our Handbook for specific examples.
  • Maintains strong influence within all hiring, training, performance evaluations, discipline and/or termination decisions.
  • Responsible for receiving, processing, and investigating complaints made per the existing harassment policy.

All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
