JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision of the Grocery Manager, the Grocery Clerk will provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service. This position will assist customers, clean display cases, and clean shelves. They will also clean, fill and rotate the self serve displays and tables. Must be able to work a variety of hours including nights and weekends. Must be able to perform heavy lifting, bending and stooping for long periods of time.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

There are three different shifts for the position of Grocery Clerk. The duties will vary slightly dependent upon the shift. Each Grocery Clerk is assigned a store aisle, and they are responsible for their aisle throughout the duration of their shift.

Each person will commence their day by assessing their assigned aisle to be sure all products are “faced” forward. The Grocery Clerk will determine which areas need more product. When more product is necessary the Grocery Clerk will walk to the warehouse to their assigned section and obtain more product for the floor. More product is obtained by breaking down pallets of product into smaller loads. The boxes are unwrapped, if necessary, and then the product is placed onto rolling bins or rolling racks to bring onto the floor. If the products are taken onto the floor in large boxes, then the Grocery Clerk will break down the boxes and return them back to the warehouse, utilizing a rolling bin for disposal. The use of pallet jacks may be necessary to move product in the warehouse. If a power jack is necessary then it is only operated by grocery staff that has been certified to use the power jack.

The morning shift will also assist in the overall product maintenance at the time of the store opening to ensure that everything is in its place, faced forward and sufficiently stocked. The final 30-60 minutes of each shift is spent cleaning their designated areas in the warehouse to ensure that the product stock area is neat and tidy.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Assists the Grocery Manager to maintain the currency of the merchandising schematics; properly displaying merchandise, rotation, and cross-merchandising.

· Responsible for the removal of discontinued items per new schematics provided by the Grocery Manager.

· Works with the Grocery Manager and Scan Coordinator to complete weekly ad checks and regular store price checks to ensure correct prices throughout the store.

· Checks for missing items, missing tags, or unauthorized items, and maintains a constant rotation system.

· Communicates to Grocery Manager on items needed to ensure a full store and to maintain solid inventory levels.

· Adheres to all company and grocery operation standards.

· Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/LICENSE REQUIRED:

Experience

Grocery experience is a plus.

Preferred Field of Expertise

· Ability to follow company customer service procedures.

· Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.

· Ability to interact with customers and coworkers.

· Ability to understand and follow directions.
