As a Grounds Laborer, you will be responsible for maintaining the Medical Center grounds to provide a safe and attractive environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Using power and hand tools to cut lawns and trim hedges. Edging grass and weeding flower beds and planting areas. Cutting down wild trees.
- Raking and removing trash, litter, and leaves with hand operated equipment.
- Removing snow from walks and drives with hand operated equipment.
- Cleaning and maintaining parking lots with hand operated equipment.
- Performing minor maintenance on hand operated equipment.
- Keeping working areas neat, clean and safe.
- Completing departmental required paperwork in timely and eligible fashion.
- Assisting in repairing sprinklers.
- May be reassigned to clean mechanical rooms.
- Offering assistance to patients and visitors requiring special assistance.
- Following through on all assigned duties until completion and performing other duties as requested by senior management.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate with others by writing.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand equipment used on the job.
- Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolds.
- Must be physically capable of performing the work expected in an efficient manner.
- Must have knowledge of safety rules, practices and equipment.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work with other people.
- Must be capable of strenuous physical activity.

- Shift: Days 6a - 2:30p/7a-3:30p & Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work 8hr shift, from approximately 6-7am and/or 2:30-3:30pm and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary depending on the week, but we anticipate that you will be scheduled to work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday).
