We are looking for an energetic and experienced GSE Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have an unrestricted driver's license for at least one full year and a clean driving record and at least 5 years of experience in ground service equipment maintenance. LOCATION:

Atlanta, GA - Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

PAY:

$27.00-$30.00/hr. Based on experience

SHIFT:

  • Full Time: DAY SHIFT: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM, requires availability during weekends and holidays and/or irregular shifts

WORK DESCRIPTION:

The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for repair and maintenance on ground support equipment, components, and vehicles. Examine, diagnose, repair, and make necessary adjustments in accordance with operation manuals and manufacturing specifications.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND AVAILABILITY:

  • Must have own tools and be able to operate various power and hand tools safely
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read an electrical schematic
  • Ability to read a Hydraulic flow schematic
  • Must have knowledge of heavy-duty diesel/automotive equipment
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of complex hydraulic and electrical systems required
  • Knowledge of Generators 400 hz as well as 28volt
  • Experience with gasoline, diesel required, propane experience desired.
  • Metal fabrication, cutting and welding experience desired.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide prompt response to equipment service requests
  • Service vehicles & belt loaders (unleaded, diesel and propane engines), lavatory service trucks, baggage carts, ground power units and more
  • Have a working knowledge of Preventive Maintenance Programs
  • Perform light & Heavy repairs on GSE equipment
  • Diagnose engine mechanical issues and repair (Diesel, gas and LP)
  • Troubleshoot A/C and D/C electrical systems
  • Utilize computer software to diagnose Powertrain Management Systems
  • Repair 80 & 48 volt DC systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair Airstart systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems
  • Complete equipment repairs
  • Comply with established Company safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure the security of supplies and equipment
  • Work on the ramp as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Speak and understand English.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, 10-year background check (criminal/employment) and be able to obtain a required airport security clearance.
  • VALID Driver's License (NOT ID) for at least 1 full year. (License cannot have any restrictions).
  • Qualified applicants will have at least 5 years of experience in ground service equipment maintenance
  • ASE certification a plus
  • Experience with gasoline, diesel required, propane experience desired.
  • Metal fabrication, cutting and welding experience desired.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work is performed on airfield ramp (inside of the aircraft), which is exposed to outdoor weather conditions (temperatures ranging from 20-105 degrees Fahrenheit) and elevated noise levels. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
