- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must successfully complete current district training for supervision for Classified Staff within one year after entering position.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in the custodial field
- Minimum of one year supervisory experience.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer physical examination.
- PINNACOL (safety) and AHERA (asbestos) training required within six months after entering position?
- Customer service and public relations skills.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills.

- Thorough understanding of custodial methods, processes, procedures, chemicals and equipment.

- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
- Basic operating skills and experience with personal computers, office productivity and basic office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.
- Operating knowledge of custodial cleaning equipment, industrial and domestic winter and summer yard care equipment, hand and power tools and digital test equipment.
- Responsible for planning, assigning , directing and guiding work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; interviewing and hiring; appraising performance; disciplining; and providing input into termination proceedings.
- Carry and respond to district cell phone & two-way radio during assigned shift and as duties require.
- Responsible for managing custodial funds allocated for operations, ordering and maintaining inventory, tracking expenses and approving custodial expenditures.
- Manage human resources expenditures by reviewing and approving time and attendance, including real time, temporary leave, compensatory or flex time and overtime.
- Responsible for ensuring resources are used responsibly and ensuring the crew has adequate supplies and equipment necessary to complete their jobs.
- May manage and use a line of credit at pre-approved businesses with related expenditures up to $500.
- Position is per Weld County School District Re-8 calendar
- To be determined by Director of Support Services or designee; but average maintenance hours per day are 6:30 AM through 3:30 PM during the school year and 7 AM through 4 PM. during the summer. Position may include some weekend work.
- All agreements for employment of personnel shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Education.
- No smoking is allowed in any Weld County School District Re-8 buildings.
- Selected applicant must comply with the District's Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected applicant must verify, within 72 hours of employment, his/her legal right to be employed in the United States.

POSITION: Head Custodian – Homyak Elementary School
SALARY RANGE: District Classified Salary Schedule (Dependent on Experience) Full District Benefits - 250 Day contract. With a range of $16.00 - $28.89 per hour based on experience or job related skills.

SUMMARY: Responsible for all Custodial staff supervision and the overall cleanliness, sanitation, security, safety and maintenance of the assigned facility, buildings, grounds and equipment. Manage custodial personnel schedules and time, custodial inventory and equipment, custodial expenditures, building repairs and maintenance, seasonal and special projects, building use and building systems and operations of the assigned school. Bilingual skills: English & Spanish language, is preferred but not required. 250 Day contract
