Help Desk Assistant
Job description
The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking a Help Desk Assistant This position is responsible for providing administrative coordination and support for the operations of the McIntire Help Desk. Competitive applicants will also provide tier 1 technical support as needed to McIntire users. The mission and goal of the McIntire Help Desk is to provide courteous, professional, "white glove" logistical and technical support to students, faculty, and staff of the McIntire School of Commerce.

What you will do:
Administrative duties
Manage a team of 7-8 Help Desk student workers - set their schedules, approve time cards, work with Help Desk manager to hire/fire student workers as needed
Work with UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) to manage all service requests on behalf of the School
Work with UVA Facilities Management on all requests for new or replacement door keys at the School; ensure the Help Desk has an appropriate stock of replacement/spare keys at all times
Manage all purchasing requests for the McIntire IT Operations group
Work with the McIntire business office to ensure purchases are properly reconciled
Edit technology and facility content on the MyMcIntire employee/student "portal" as directed
Manage communications to the McIntire community (using digital signage, mass email, or other approved tools) as directed
Perform other admin duties as assigned
Technical responsibilities
Occasionally provide coverage at the McIntire Help Desk (via email, phone, or in person)
Create tickets in response to user requests
Perform basic "Tier 1" troubleshooting and tech support, following the provided training materials
Qualifications:
High School Diploma, with at least one year of administrative assistant experience
Must have experience using Microsoft Office
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be comfortable using technology and learning new systems
Must be detail-oriented with strong organization skills, and must have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
Preference will be given to candidates with previous UVA experience
Anticipated hiring range: $18.00 - $21.50 / hour
The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check at the time of the offer per University Policy.
