Own the school’s character development and ensure it builds and reinforces positive self-identity and necessary character strengths.

Coordinate student incentive activities and programs.

Utilize student behavior data to formulate action plans for improving student behavior.

Implements and facilitates restorative practices .

Partner with parents and families to build authentic school-wide community;

Coordinate and implement a school-wide behavior management system with meaningful incentives and consequences.

Work closely and effectively with children who have behavior challenges and their families; partner with school counselors and teachers to execute individualized behavior interventions when needed.

Facilitate staff training on student-teacher relationships, classroom management, parent partnership and school culture.

Counsels students to acknowledge and manage responsible personal conduct. Helps resolve problems that impede student learning and/or participation in school activities.

Supports educational programs.

Helps supervise student activities as directed (e.g. arrivals/departures, parking lots, lunch periods, hall duty, extracurricular programs, etc.)

Prepares and maintains accurate records. Submits reports on time. Maintains district records as mandated by law and/or board policy.

Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.

Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.

Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.

Master’s Degree from an accredited University (Educational Leadership or similar preferred)

Valid Ohio Principals License or actively pursuing

Minimum of three (3-5) years classroom teaching experience and/or leadership experience

Minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience preferred (ie, department chair, team leader, etc.)

Experience serving in an educationally under-resourced community

Demonstrated success in building relationships and trust with leaders, teachers, students, parents and community.

General Responsibilities
Assistant Principals at CPS support teacher development and working conditions to help them successfully shape students' experiences in the classroom.They are community-centered leaders that support partnerships aligned with a school’s vision and needs. CPS Assistant Principals are responsible for supporting the building principal in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program, curriculum, community partnerships and operation.
Position Summary: The High School Assistant Principal Of Culture and Community will assist the High School Principal in administering the student conduct code and monitoring of compulsory attendance requirements. Promotes an effective learning environment. Promotes close working relationships with parents, students and staff. Keeps the principal informed about emerging issues. The individual in this position is responsible for facilitating the culture of the school, including the development of student character and ensuring a positive and structured environment that creates the conditions for learning. This position requires an organized and consistent educator with a concrete vision of excellence, adult leadership experience, the ability to build outstanding relationships with stakeholders, and a talent for inspiring children to high expectations.
