Human Resources/Payroll Associate
to support the District’s HR and Payroll functions

JOB GOAL
Collaborating with the Coordinator of Human Resources and the Assistant Director of Finance, the HR/Payroll Associate supports Human Resources and Business office/payroll functions allowing the District to provide the best possible employee experience, fostering a positive work culture in a diverse workforce. The HR/Finance Associate physically works in and alongside the Business & Finance office to accomplish all facets of work described below.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university required
- Hiring Requirement: Successful completion and approval of CORI and fingerprinting
Specialized Knowledge:
- Three years experience in a school district business office or school front office
- Payroll and Human Resources software such as MUNIS, Frontline Absence Management, and PowerSchool strongly preferred
- Unified Talent’s TalentEd Applicant Tracking and Records experience strongly preferred
- Advanced technology skills including Google Workspace (including Documents, Sheets, Presentations, etc.) and Excel required
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with various bargaining units, as well as non-union employees
- Experience with onboarding and offboarding employees
- Ability to work in a fast-paced HR and Payroll environment
- Ability to multi-task a variety of employee issues simultaneously while remaining personable
- Willingness to troubleshoot with various software technical support departments on software questions/issues
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school departments
- High level of confidentiality and sound judgment in decision-making
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- On-board new employees by ensuring new hires have completed all necessary paperwork
- Off-boarding departing employees getting necessary documentation to the Town HR department
- Assist in the May Open Enrollment of all staff
- Responding to staff inquiries regarding HR and Payroll related questions
- Point person for all summer camps, substitute, and programs hiring (onboarding and payroll functions)
- Leave of Absence insurance billing
- SSA verification, and SAFIS letters of suitability
- Processing and documenting CORI (criminal authorization and SAFIS (fingerprinting) results
- Responsible for sorting and posting interoffice and USPS mail
- Clerical duties such as: scanning, copying, stuffing checks, ordering, postage machine management, etc
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The HR/Payroll Associate does not supervise any staff.
